Illustration of the moments after Luke Skywalker lands on the planet Dagobah to find the Jedi master Yoda, as instructed by Obi-Wan.

Rarely, do I revisit an old composition in my work. More often than not is because time does not allow the luxury. However, it is an age-old tradition to work and rework themes over the course of a lifetime; we saw that with the old masters and repitition is a strong tool in learning.

Years ago, as I began experimenting with traditional techniques with my digital I had created this illustration:

Original attempt at illustration of the moments after Luke Skywalker lands on the planet Dagobah to find the Jedi master Yoda, as instructed by Obi-Wan.

I received some encouraging praise on the progress from some of my respected friends, which pushed me further along in my progress.

As a gauge of progress with the dawn of the new year, I thought I would revisit this composition with an updated illustration of Luke Skywalker landing on the swamp-covered planet Dagobah, in search of the elusive Jedi master as instructed by Obi-Wan.

I like both of these pieces for many and varied reasons and I will continue to iterate processes and tools as I look to refine my painting style.
