Polaroid SX-70 photo of the marquee of the classic Chinese Theater now housing Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

I have used Polaroid cameras since my childhood. As a teenager, I had a contract with Polaroid as one of thei artists; essentially an evangelist program to showcase what creative work could be accomplished using their products.

Ever since Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in The Walt Disney World Resort, I have been experimenting with a vintage take on the attractions using Polaroid cameras and instant films. These are some recent shots using a Polaroid Pronto OneSte Land Camera and new Polaroid SX-70 films.

As you can see in the images above, some of the exposures are very spotty; these were all taken on a mostly sunny day and the new films from Polaroid easily overexpose. However, the photo of the AT-AT, just outside of the Star Tours attraction, was the only one with slight compensation which caused deep underexposure.

Despite the vagaries of the output, it gives the land a distinctly vintage feel, which was the artist’s intent. We will continue to experiment with more films as well as different instant cameras in the coming months, so stay tuned here and on our socials below.
