This has been a hard couple of weeks for fans of popular culture. First Tony Bennett, then Shuhada’ Sadaqat (formerly known as Sinéad O’Connor), now Paul Reubens or also known as Pee-wee Herman.
I had been wanting to do a portrait of Pee-wee for years and during the pandemic I began some sketches. I had never finished one to completion, but since learning of Pee-wee’s death from cancer, I tweaked one of these sketches to share as tribute to his memory.
