Looking back on the year and reflecting on the illustrations and alternative movie posters created during 2023. It has been another year to continue to transpose my traditional painting background to digital equivalency.
There have been many attempts to reflect natural media in the work this year and not all of them are successful.
But we continue to work with the tools that are readily available (e.g., Procreate, Corel Painter, Adobe Photoshop, et. al.) in the work.
Sometimes, it is a matter of pencil sketch to digital finish, while other times it is a digital creation that is printed and then completed with traditional tools on the easel. However, the drive is the same as we work to create unique pieces of work that reflect the tone and sensibilities of the subject.
Oftentimes, that will be a portrait of a main subject(s) in a signature pose from the scene as the central element of the piece.
And when the subject calls for it, an alternative movie poster is created from those portraits; that is what is usually shared across our social media and within the poster community.
